5 months

Now then, back to the present...

At five months, Chase is eating everything in sight! He loves his bottles still, but wants to eat something whenever we are eating. He has only found one food he won't eat- peaches, and he's up to at least 2 meals a day, and if I've really got it together, all 3. Chase weighs 16lbs and has out grown all the 3mo clothes. He can almost sit up by himself in the highchair. I bought him a padded insert thingy from Ikea and he's looking more comfortable in it anyway! Travis also has a "matching" high chair to Chase. I got him a youth/toddler chair from Ikea because he was wanting to sit in the high chair when Chase got out. Fair is fair, and he deserved his own special spot at the table. Chase still loves his swing. It's his preferred napping spot. He has now started to roll around to get places. He still hates being in the crawling stance, so we'll just have to see- we might have a non-crawler on our hands. He gave me one week of sleeping from midnight to 7am!!!...and then it was back to normal- up twice a night for food. Sigh! I'm getting a little cranky...
Travis still loves all things doctor. We read the Berenstain Bears books about doctors and dentists every day. EVERY day. They are getting a little old. It's his favorite book series right now. I love the book Granny gave him last month, "Mary and the mouse, the mouse and Mary." It's illustrated like books from the 50s and it's all in color, every page, and they are large pages. Plus the story is sweet :) He is also loving his magazines. Granny gave him a subscription to Highlights for Christmas this year and he gets so excited when he gets something in the mail. We sit down and read through the whole thing and then I leave it on the ottoman so he can read it on his own. It's really cute to see him telling stories to himself about the pictures in the magazine. Travis keeps asking for Chase to sleep in his room, so cute. But we don't really need for them to share a room; we have a 3 bedroom house but no one comes to visit anyway so lack of a guest room isn't a big deal. However, my cousin is moving into a smaller house with her daughter and we have agreed to switch beds with the kids so Emily will have more space in her new smaller room. Travis' double bed will become Emily's and Emily's queen will now be in our 'guest room'! This won't happen for another month but I told Travis that we were going to put Chase's crib in his room soon and he ran into the nursery and started trying to move the crib himself! He's genuinely excited to be with his brother and that makes me so happy :) I'm excited to decorate their room too!

Just like Aunt Meredith and Uncle Donny....you'll have to get Grandpa to let him listen to his heart next time he goes over there...maybe he won't be afraid to go then!
