pumpkins!

Today, we decided to go to Burt's pumpkin patch :)  It was a spontaneous field trip and everything worked out ok.  I think everyone had a good time even though it was ridiculously crowded for 3pm on Saturday.  We brought home a large orange pumpkin and a small white- both with fun twirly stems.  That's our thing. The pumpkin is no good without an interesting stem ;)
We started the day off by sleeping in till 9:30.  Then after breakfast and some playing with cars, we headed out to Jimmy John's for lunch.  Travis requested a hot dog from Costco, which is right near JJ's, and so I decided that we were going to have a good day and ran in and got him one along with a sprite.  After everyone was fed, we headed off to Dawsonville- a 45min drive.  It was beautiful and the whole way we talked about how wonderful it would be to live out here in the beauty of nature.  Then we (or rather me) admitted that civilization was necessary for friends and future soccer and shopping.  It was gorgeous though!
The pumpkin patch was just as we remembered.  We didn't go last year, but I got some great photos the year before.  Tons of pumpkins- a sea of orange, spotted with grey-green and white.  So fun!  Chase was a little apprehensive at first- did I mention it was crowded??  But he quickly followed his brother's lead and was running thru the rows, stopping occasionally to examine a stem and try to pick up a pumpkin that was bigger than him.  Travis had a blast.  Cheesed for me in quite a few pictures.  Helped us pick the pumpkins and didn't mind one bit when I changed my mind about the little white one we had picked :)
We headed back to the car with our pumpkins and 3 fried apple pies (looking forward to desert tonight!) and decided to hit up Amacolola Falls on our way home since it was literally 50 feet away.  Well, that was a bust.  It was so crowded that we didn't even turn in.  We'll go back again soon though because it wasn't very far and Travis was really excited to hike up to the big waterfall.  Uneventful trip home as the boys finally took a nap, and now our porch looks even more festive and Travis can't get enough of looking at our pumpkins.  $20 well spent.
